About Hike and Draws with Kristina and Julie

April 26, 2017

Leisurely hiking and drawing on the Bruce Trail.  As members of the Peninsula Bruce Trail Club, Julie Heinrichs and Kristina Maus offer a few walks a year which also allow for opportunities to draw.  They don't charge a fee; they do this for the love of it and to support hiking on the Bruce Trail!

Bring your own art materials: pencils, pens, watercolours.
Photography is an option; however, you will be invited to draw!  ;-)

Bring something to sit on; cushion or small folding chair.
Pack a lunch, water and snacks.  You eat along the way and take your time.  Dress in layers.  Pack light.

These events are designed to encourage the development of great observation skills as well as provide a leisurely tour of their favourite sections of the Bruce Trail.

Biography – Julie Heinrichs

‘It gives me joy to paint and more joy to have someone connect with my painting. My inspiration is to share the beauty of what I see when creating my art.”

The beauty of the Bruce Trail drew Julie and her family to Caledon Hills and then to Lions Head ON on the Bruce Peninsula. It is here on a historic property with views of Georgian Bay that Julie feels she has reached her destination to sketch and paint in a colourful, impressionistic style.

Julie is an active member of the Bruce Peninsula Society of Artists, the Co-op Gallery in Ferndale and a 2017 participant of the BPSA Studio Tour. You can come visit and view her artwork in her home studio on the weekend of August 26 and 27, 2017.

Biography - Kristina Maus

I am a nature and landscape painter, working primarily in acrylics, and occasionally in watercolour and pencil.  I’ve always loved drawing and find inspiration in the beauty of ordinary scenes.  Subject matter is drawn from my rural surroundings, Bruce County, Lake Huron and Georgian Bay shores, adventures on hiking trails, and my passion for the outdoors.

I live in Bruce County on a family farm.  I began my art career as a book illustrator and graphic artist in the ‘80s, and among other work, I’ve illustrated seven books, taught as an elementary school art specialist, had five solo shows and have participated in many Juried and Group Shows.

Bruce Trail hike and draws are rewarding for me.  It’s fun to sit and draw on a path, to really take the time to experience the sounds and smells and textures and colours of the Bruce Trail.  Julie and I have enjoyed meeting many interesting people who like to do the same, and who have encouraged us to continue the practice.  Please visit my website for more information.  www.kristinamaus.com
