2010 End to End Hikes and Legacy Fund Raiser

Introduction

The end to end for 2010 is on Saturdays and Sundays for the dates listed below.

Come out, have fun, meet new friends and help us raise funds for the Peninsula Club’s commitment to the Bruce Trail Legacy Campaign. We will car pool to the start of each hike. Distances are as listed in the Bruce Trail Reference Guide, Edition 25 New. There may be additional distances added to our hikes as we use access trails to our main trailheads. Distances listed below may change as new reroutes to our optimum routes are determined in 2010. Changes will be published.

Donations

Donations of $10.00 for each hike are requested to participate. For tax purposes, if you require a receipt, please provide your name and address to the Hike Director and the Bruce Trail Conservancy will provide a receipt.

Registration

Please register by contacting Hike Director, John Whitworth at 519-836-7673.

Limited Number

There is a limit of 20 hikers.

Accommodations

Accommodation can be found at B & B’s on the Bruce Peninsula or camping at designated camping and rest areas along the trail. Degree of Difficulty

All end-to-end hikes in this eries are designated as strenuous. Strenuous (definition New) Bullet A normal paced hiking speed. We do not race. The treadway could have some steep climbing both up and down, some scrambling, boulder beaches, and escarpment drop offs close to the trail. Usually longer hike days.

Special Notes for the Peninsula BTC End to End Hike Series New

  • The Peninsula BTC End to End hikes are moderately paced. We take time to enjoy the scenery, botany, and fabulous views of the Bruce Peninsula, including Georgian Bay.
  • The duration of End to End Hikes is approximately 6 to 7 hours including breaks and a half hour lunch stop. One or two hikes could be longer. We start at 9:00 a.m., car pool, hike, car pool and usually finish between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Meet by 9:00 a.m. at Crane Lake Gate. Take Hwy. 6, east on Dyer’s Bay Rd., then left on Crane Lake Rd. (It is approximately 10 – 15 min. drive to navigate this winding country road to the gates at km 129.1). We are hiking this section from north to south.
