We continue with a varied series of Easy Walks led by Elaine Wassermann, most of which will be about two hours duration, over easy treadways except where noted. Read the hike details carefully for both the Easy Walks and our Regular Hikes. A few will be described as moderate or strenuous. Note: On all hikes, bring plenty of water, snacks and a lunch, if required. Wear sturdy hiking footwear, and dress in layers.
Our hikes will continue to be Looney/Tooney Hikes. On a strictly voluntary basis, participating hikers may donate to the Peninsula Bruce Trail Club’s fund raising campaign as part of our club’s commitment to contribute to the BTC goal to secure the trail. This program is for the future preservation of the Bruce Trail on escarpment lands.

A walk overlooking Dyer’s Bay Moderate ~ 7 km
Meeting time: 10:00 a.m. Where to meet: Municipal Parking lot – at the top of Dyer’s Bay hill – carpool. We will walk the Bruce Trail on top of the escarpment. Optional: A visit to Virginia’s Garden; Larkwhistle Garden is also in the area. Leader: Elaine Wassermann 519-795-7407
Tuesday, August 16, 2011 White Bluff Nature Reserve Easy ~ 4 km
Meeting time: 10:00 a.m. Where to meet: Hwy. 6, East on Lindsay Rd. 5, North on East Rd.,, then East on Cape Chin South Rd. At the 1st ‘T’ Junction turn left. At the 2nd ‘T’ Junction, turn right. A pleasant loop along an old logging road, then along the Georgian Bay shore. Leader: Elaine Wassermann 519-795-7407
Wednesday, August 31, 2011 Bard Side Trail Easy ~ 4 km
Meeting time: 10:30 a.m. Where to meet: Cape Chin Connection – Hwy. 6 to Lindsay Rd. 5, Left on East Rd., to Cape Chin North Rd. Park at Cape Chin Connection B&B. This is a lovely loop, part of it along the Niagara Escarpment overlooking Georgian Bay. Optional Lunch at Cape Chin Connection. Leader: Elaine Wassermann 519-795-7407

Meeting time: 10:00 a.m. Where to meet: Moore St. and McCurdy Dr., Lion’s Head. A beautiful walk through a mature forest. Leader: Elaine Wassermann 519-795-7407
Wednesday, September 28, 2011 Purple Valley Walk Easy ~ 3 km
Meeting time: 10:00 a.m. Where to meet: From County Rd. 9, turn East onto Purple Valley Rd., continue straight onto Wright’s Crescent. Park at Purple Valley Access Tr. From several lookouts along the escarpment, we enjoy the autumnal palette below and the Georgian Bay islands beyond Colpoy’s Bay. Leader: Elaine Wassermann 519-795-7407
Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011 Devil’s Monument & Minnhinnick S.T. Loop Strenuous ~ 8 km
Meeting time: 10:00 a.m. Where to meet: Borchardt Rd. Parking Lot. A lovely walk along the escarpment, lunch over looking Georgian Bay, looping back through forest. Leader: Elaine Wassermann 519-795-7407
Wednesday, October 26, 2011 Jackson’s Cove Lookout Moderate ~ 5 km
Meeting time: 11:00 a.m. Where to meet: Bruce County Rd. 9 to Hopeness Rd., turn Right on Jackson’s Cove Rd., Park at the top of the hill. First walking along the escarpment we loop back through beautiful forest. Leader: Elaine Wassermann 519-795-7407
